We know that it can be intimidating to take the first step — especially when you don’t know what to expect. Here are some of the common questions we receive.
How much does therapy cost?
We believe everyone deserves access to quality therapy, so we strive to make our services as affordable as possible. Our licensed providers offer sessions for $200 for a 50-minute appointment, while our unlicensed providers charge $150 for the same duration. To support those in need, we also maintain a limited number of sliding scale appointments and pro-bono opportunities for clients facing financial hardships.
Although we do not participate in any insurance networks, we can provide you with monthly superbills to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. We encourage you to contact your insurance provider to explore your out-of-network mental health benefits.
We understand that navigating insurance can be frustrating, which is why we want to be transparent about our decision to remain out-of-network. Insurance companies often require a diagnosis that may not accurately reflect your experiences and can dictate treatment plans, potentially limiting your healing process. By working outside these constraints, we can focus entirely on your needs without added barriers. Our commitment is to provide a supportive environment where you can explore your challenges and receive the care you deserve.
What happens during a free 15-minute therapy consultation?
During your free consultation, you'll have the opportunity to meet with the therapist and see if you feel comfortable working together. It's important that you find the right fit for your needs, and if it turns out that the clinician isn’t the right match for you, that’s completely okay! The clinician won’t take it personally and will be happy to provide referrals to other professionals who may better suit your preferences. Your comfort and well-being are our top priorities, and we’re here to support you in finding the best path forward.
What is therapy like? How often will we meet? And where?
Therapy is a collaborative journey where you and your therapist work together to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe and supportive environment. Initially, sessions typically start on a weekly basis to establish a strong foundation and understand your unique situation. As therapy progresses, the frequency of meetings may change based on your needs and goals. All of our therapists offer virtual sessions for your convenience, and some also provide in-person appointments if that is your preference. We’re here to help you find the best approach that works for you.
What approaches do you practice?
Our therapy approaches are diverse and tailored to meet your individual needs. We use strength-based, identity-affirming therapy and client-centered, goal-oriented methods that draw from various therapeutic styles. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques and trauma-focused therapy help address both immediate and deep-rooted challenges, while somatic treatments, mindfulness practices, and breathing techniques support emotional and physical well-being. We focus on both the behavioral process and emotional experience to ensure a holistic and comprehensive approach to your healing journey.
